Beijing is located in the north-east of China, at 39 degrees of latitude, similar to Detroit, MI, USA, at 42 degrees of latitude. The weather is also somewhat similar, with the average temperature in January 25 degrees, and July 80 degrees. Needless to say, it was hot hiking those hills.
We were happy to stumble upon this cool stream, and even happier that what may appear in the picture as walking sticks were really...

(I'm not so sure how the other hikers felt about it however ;)
